The WOW Program is happy to announce our Fall Sessions on September 21-22 and November 16 and 17.

The program is run like a club for women to participate in a variety of water activities to encompass all levels of interest. The events will include small boat sailing, lessons, training and other on-the-water areas where interest is shown, i.e. kayaking, power boat operating, and paddle boarding.

The 4 days are organized in a way so that the participants can build upon skills, both on land and and water, with plenty of time to practice on the water. Our goals for the WOW program is to have students at many levels participate at their own pace and to improve overall skills at each meeting time. There will be opportunities for more advance students to challenge themselves on the water with different boats – FJ boats, lasers, kayaking, paddle boarding, and power boats. Also, the program is set up in a way that not only do we have wonderful volunteers who will support with guidance and coaching, also, we encourage peer to peer support as well. WOW’ s land classroom time is geared to the novice and beginner students who have done a little sailing and are familiar with the parts of a boat and sail. The classroom, begins with a review of nautical terminology, handling sheets and sails when tacking and jibing. Learn basic sail shape when wind direction and strength changes. Learn boat rigging and knots, i.e., figure eight, bowline, square knots, round turn, half hitches and clove hitch. Depending on how much is covered on one given day, will depend on what will be covered on the other days.

WOW will be on a drop-in basis at $35 per day, but the classes will need a prior sign up.
