Nestled along the San Francisco waterfront just south of AT&T Park and the Bay Bridge, the Bay View Boat Club has been in existence since 1961 (incorporated in 1963), and has a long-standing tradition of diversity and hospitality in the Bay Area community, somehow blending boating with good food and entertainment. Our members have consistently proven to be competitive in the Bay Area racing arena, due in part to an attitude that has been referred to as "Industrial Strength Boating," as well as cruising to the far reaches of the Bay and Delta.

Although located in an area of San Francisco that is experiencing incredible and rapid change due to seemingly constant construction projects and, notably, a second downtown ballpark, the club has managed to retain it's character and old San Francisco charm, offering up a cozy and classic world of camaraderie from the bar and a dynamic view from the garden.

Among the many events at the club, which include active racing and cruising programs, a unique Monday Nite Maddness race series, the famous Plastic Classic, frequent evenings with live music, art exhibits, and various other gatherings for the enjoyment of its members and invited guests.

All of this attests to an adherence within the founders' declaration of purpose in the club's Articles of Incorporation, submitted so many years ago, "in order to further and promote the boating activities of those interested...promote entertainments, lectures, social affairs, celebrations, exhibitions, games, regattas, and reviews, and amusements of any and all descriptions for the general enjoyment and instruction of the members...."

The club is a member of the PICYA (Pacific Inter-club Yacht Associtation), YRA (Yacht Racing Association), RBOC (Recreational Boaters of California) and the US Sailing Association. Bay View Boat Club members are part of the global yachting community around the world, complete with reciprocity and an inheritance of yachting’s traditions, customs, and courtesies.
